Is the military divorce rate higher than civilian? No. Statistics don't show a marked increase in military divorce when overseas postings are involved. This could be due in part, and a large part at that, to the pro-active work by the various branches of the military in helping married couples.

No, in my opinion first enlistment military marriages end at a higher rate. Young-n-dumb couples who shouldnt have married in the first place, who weren’t mature enough to deal with the separation and stress fail at a higher rate. I know many Sr Enlisted/Officers who have been with their spouses for years; they often married after they were in a few years (or are on their second marriage); however I see nearly weekly the young couples fail often and furiously. Additionally, every marriage is different. There are many success stories in the military among the failure.

Not really. In my opinion people get married for the “money” that military men make or think they’ll make more, but they don't really. You have to have trust to make a military marriage work, you have to have trust to make a civilian marriage work.

At the time my ex-husband and I were married, we were told that 56% of Marines coming back were getting a divorce.(HE'S A Marine himself) If they've been in combat theatre, then they’ve a higher chance of having PTSD which in turn can cause marital problems if not treated. Hope that gives you an idea.

Why do divorce rates vary among different segments of the American population? Divorce rates vary according to many factors. First, divorce rates vary by race. In the U.S., Divorce rates are highest for whites, a bit lower for blacks, and fairly low for Hispanics. Asians have the lowest rates. Second, religion comes into play. Jews have the lowest divorce rates. Catholics are second, and Protestants have the highest. Next, there is socioeconomic background. Those from low socioeconomic status have the highest divorce rates. Contrary to popular belief, people with high socioeconomic standing have much lower rates of divorce. Then there is the factor of second marriages. As a general rule, second marriages aren’t as stable as first marriages. Moreover, it’s less likely for a black woman to get remarried than it’s for a white woman. Add to that the factor of age. The longer the length of the first marriage, the less likely it’s for a woman to remarry, and this is especially true for black women. At one time, there were also regional differences within the United States becaue of divorce laws. In 1970, California was the first state to adopt the “no-fault” divorce law. This made it relatively easy to get divorced in California. Gradually, most — but not all — other states followed California's example. Age is also a factor. The younger people are when the get married, the more likely they’re to get divorced, on average. Part of this variable probably includes education. People who finish high school before marrying are less likely to get divorced than those who drop out and get married. The lowest divorce rate is found among couples where the husband has 5 years of college and the wife has completed 4 years. Then, an interesting thing happens. If a woman has 6 or more years of college, her divorce rate is almost as high as a high-school drop-out. In this case, the problem is generally a two-career marriage. Women who have 6 years of college are generally employed in a profession (architect, lawyer, physician, college professor, etc.). So, in many cases, her profession may take precedence over her marriage if the 2 come into conflict. Without more specific information from you, that's about the best that I can do for now. Hope it helps. . .

Why is the divorce rate so high in America? Because marriage is no longer meaningful seriously 50% of marriages in America end in divorce they might as well scrap the entire thing do people no longer understand what a vow is anymore? Seems like most of that 50% is either lazy and aren’t willing to work on their marriage (they think its all rainbows and no actual work), or got married because of a fleeting thought in their heads and ran to vegas, or they just married for money and looking forward to the divorce settlement.
